Manila, Philippines – Defying global trends, the residential wired business of leading telco PLDT is poised to register impressive subscriber growth by end of 2014.
PLDT HOME DSL is expected to reach one million subscribers by year end, while PLDT HOME Telpad has already doubled its subscriber base
"The consistent subscriber growth reinforces PLDT’s leadership in the landline business with 70% market share, more than three times bigger than its nearest competitor," PLDT EVP and Head of Home Business Ariel Fermin said.
PLDT HOME DSL, which surveys said was the strongest broadband brand for homes in the country, is expected to end the year with over 200,000 new subscribers.
According to Fermin, the growth was driven by the company’s extensive facility roll-out and relentless efforts to provide compelling multimedia content
PLDT HOME Telpad, the country's only online landline, also posted strong growth by doubling its base as of end-November of this year connecting an estimated number of200,000 homes.
“This year, we have invested heavily in improving and expanding our infrastructure so we can reach more homes and provide them the strongest connections,” he said. “We also recognize the value of compelling content in the growth equation, which is why we continuously enhance our portfolio of multimedia offerings for music, games, sports and TV shows.“
Fermin added, “Our growing subscriber base is a testament to customer trust in the quality of our products, and to the success of the PLDT Group’s integrated approach to multimedia, data and voice services. It’s an inspiration and a challenge for us as more Filipino families embrace this highly competitive and exciting age of digital connections and communication.”
PLDT HOME DSL scored the highest among all Internet Service Providers (ISPs) for both signal strength and internet speed in a nationwide market study conducted by the Philippine Survey and Research Study (PSRC) early this year. It was also voted by consumers as the Most Trusted Internet Provider for six years now in the Reader's Digest Trusted Brands Awards while Telpad was a consistent recipient of the Phone Service Provider award. Both brands also bagged awards in the recently concluded Araw Values Awards.
