Manila, Philippines, September 28, 2017 – Leading telecoms and digital services provider PLDT has recently completed the fiberization of the Rockwell Center, a premier lifestyle and business hub in Makati City, providing its residents ultra-fast broadband with speeds of up to 100 megabit per second (Mbps).

PLDT’s Fibr capability in Rockwell Center now covers all residential condominiums, namely Rizal Tower, Luna Gardens, Hidalgo Place, Amorsolo Towers, Edades Garden Villas and Towers, Joya Lofts and Towers, One Rockwell, and The Manansala.

"With PLDT HOME Fibr, Rockwell Center residents will now be able to seamlessly download files, log-in to their social media accounts, stream their favorite movies, play online games, and a lot more on the multiple screens they use at home," PLDT FVP and Head of Home Business Marco Borlongan said.

"This is in line with our efforts to take the lead in bringing world-class internet to more Filipinos through the deployment of fiber facilities in more and more parts of the country," he added.

A stone’s throw away from Makati’s central business district, Rockwell Center is a top-tier mixed-use development which includes premier living spaces and lifestyle facilities including at least eight residential buildings, two schools, one mall and three retail hubs. Spanning over 15 hectares, this prime real estate is also home to leading brands and organizations notably in 8 Rockwell, the Nestle Philippines Headquarters and the Phinma Plaza.

The Fibr roll-out in Rockwell is expected to raise the online lifestyles of an already digitally savvy community to higher levels experienced like never before. As a fast-growing commercial center, access to high-speed broadband allows enterprises to enhance their digital platforms for business and explore new opportunities to grow.

According to PLDT FVP and Head of Consumer Business for Market Development Oscar A. Reyes, Jr., the Fibr roll-out in Makati’s Rockwell Center and its surrounding areas complements the demanding and diverse broadband needs of its residents and tenants.

“To be a world-class community, you need world-class internet and that is what PLDT Home Fibr will provide,” he said. “Rockwell Center is a major lifestyle and business hub, and having access to high-speed connectivity is a crucial aspect of any modern community looking to expand and upgrade. The Fibr experience is not just about connectivity, it’s a complete digital lifestyle. It’s the future of broadband.”

“Fibr-powered families can experience up to 100 Mbps of symmetrical internet speeds—which means subscribers may download and upload at equal high-speed,” Borlongan added. “This powerful connectivity also enables them to enjoy renowned entertainment options from PLDT Home’s game-changing entertainment box—the Roku PoweredTMTVolution which offers Cignal TV, and over 100 streaming channels including Netflix, iflix, and YouTube. PLDT Home Fibr also allows lag-free and stable streaming of high-quality, high-definition video content without pixelation.”

With robust connection from Fibr, families can also take advantage of PLDT’s SmartHome security devices such as the home monitoring system Fam Cam, the cyber security platform Fam Zone, and the multi-functional kiddie gadget Smart Watch.

Fibr subscribers can also now sign up for the country’s first-ever Whole Home WiFi service— the first intelligent Home Wi-Fi technology in the Philippines.

PLDT’s ongoing nationwide roll-out is part of its mission to give more Filipinos access to high-speed broadband. As of end-June, PLDT’s fiber facilities have passed 3.3 million homes and are expected to expand its FTTH coverage to about four million homes passed by the end of 2017. It is also deploying hybrid fiber technologies, such as Huawei’s G. fast which can boost data speeds up to 600-700 Mbps over copper lines.

PLDT has invested around P300 billion or nearly US$6 billion over the last decade to roll out the country’s most extensive fixed and wireless network infrastructure which now has 150,000 kilometers of fiber optic cables designed to support the Filipinos’ growing use of fixed and mobile data.
