10,000

10,000 is an all-male a cappella group whose love for popcappella music rooted mostly from choral singing. This is their second time joining Akapela Open and the group is craving to perform their new arrangements in front of the public. While all eyes are kept on the prize, giving a stellar performance that the audience will enjoy is their primary motivation.

Acapellago

Acapellago is a contemporary a cappella group which originated in the province of Bulacan in November 2012. The name Acapellago came about from the group's advocacy to help spread contemporary a cappella music to the Philippine archipelago and to the whole world. Every sound a cheer "Go! A Cappella!".

The group already won a several awards to date namely: “Talentadong Maloleῆo's Grand Champion” in 2012, Grand Champion of the very first “Akapela Open” in 2013, “Gintong Kabataan 2014 Special Citation For Music” from the province of Bulacan. Early this year, also with the support of Akapela Open’s partners, Acapellago gave honor to the Filipino as it stepped up its game among representative groups all over Asia --- winning Gold and the International Category Grand Champion title in the "A Cappella Championships 2015" held at the ITE College Central in Singapore. Today, the group continues to create, arrange and perform new music in the hopes of inspiring young artists in the field of contemporary a cappella.

D’Mortal Instruments

Founded in 2014, D’ Mortal Instruments (DMI) consists of college students from engineering and architecture courses. The name of the group came from the young adult fiction series “The Mortal Instruments” by Cassandra Clare. The group named it accordingly to portray the individualities of the members, yet is unified to sing as one. The group gladly takes part in the propagation of contemporary a capella singing in the country and the joy in music making.

Dynamix

“Hibang sa Awit” – Ryan Cayabyab’s composition about a musician’s love for music was not only the first piece sang by Dynamix, but is also a depiction of the group’s obsession for singing.

Now on their second year anniversary, Dynamix has become not only vocally stronger but definitely wiser as a group. Their successful baptism by fire in last year’s Akapela Open has inspired them to gun for this year’s top prize. Having bagged the Best Arrangement award in 2014, they are more determined to prove their capacity as arrangers and a capella singers in this year’s competition.

Five Percent

Five Percent is an a cappella group of five from Las Piñas City. The name “Five Percent” was crafted with the thought that in the beginning, the group’s abilities were only 5% of Pentatonix’s greatness in a cappella group singing. Today, Five Percent continues to enhance their musical talents by doing their rendition of songs of different genres.

G Harmonic

Sporting a Rock-a-pella move that gives back glory and harmony to God in each performance are Billy, Renan, John Paul, Christian and AD Beat. After being selected as front act in SkyCable’s Cable Night Unplugged, the opportunity opened doors for G Harmonic to wow audiences with their kind of harmony. They are currently the front act of Daniel Padilla’s Tour Concert Series in Batangas, Cebu, Naga and Davao. Their dream is to become the Pentatonix of the Philippines. These five young men cannot wait to the travel across the country to share their kind of music.

Iskala

Iskala is a newly formed all-male vocal group with a zest for skills in a cappella harmony. Their hunger for an opportunity to develop their talents further united them. With this, they decided to call themselves “ISKALA”, the Filipino word for “scale”.

Mouthfools

The group's name came from three words: MOUTH is the main instrument to produce sound in a cappella singing. Performers and entertainers were called FOOLS in the medieval times. MOUTHFUL is the experience of every member as they are given individual lines to sing most of the time. After Akapela Open, the group will continue to sing together and will constantly reinvent, develop and train not just to entertain but to inspire everyone to engage in music making.

Pinopela

Pinong akapela, Pinoy akapela.

Pinopela was originally formed for the singular purpose of competing in the Akapela Open, but since placing second in 2013 and further after winning the championship in 2014, the group has evolved into a true professional. The group has also been featured in Wedding Essentials as an up-and-coming alternative to traditional wedding singers, and it has also performed multiple times on big-ticket shows on national TV. Pinopela hopes to one day bring their craft to the international stage and introduce the world to a contemporary a capella sound that is uniquely Filipino and uniquely Pinopela.

Voices

Voila! We are the Voices! We are seven in the group, composed of uniquely different voices and personalities. Our constant work on improving our craft is never an easy pursuit but touching other people’s hearts through singing is one of the things that has fuelled our passion. This one-year journey has been a bumpy roller coaster ride. Despite struggles and mishaps along the way, we believe that the best has yet to come. Perhaps, God orchestrated everything. He has a purpose as He allowed us to experience the beauty of music through singing. We’re not just aca-friends, we’ve become aca-soulmates! Cheers to more aca-singing years as we embark on a perpetual musical journey!
