Frequently Asked Questions

What is Fiber Always On?

Fiber Always On is a new service from PLDT Home designed to keep you connected even during unexpected fiber outages. It features a 2-in-1 hybrid modem that combines Fiber and LTE connectivity. If your Fiber connection becomes unavailable, the backup LTE automatically activates to ensure a seamless and uninterrupted internet experience—no manual intervention is required.

In addition, the service automatically creates a priority repair request, so you don't have to call and report the issue. Fiber Always On ensures peace of mind by keeping you online, hassle-free.

Why do I need Fiber Always On?

Fiber Always On provides uninterrupted connectivity during unexpected outages caused by events like construction work, extreme weather, or maintenance. With its hybrid 2-in-1 modem, the service seamlessly switches to backup LTE without requiring you to change networks or log in with a different ID and password.

It also automatically creates a priority repair request for faster resolution, eliminating the need for manual follow-ups. With Fiber Always On, you can enjoy a worry-free internet experience that keeps you connected, no matter the circumstances.

Why do Fiber outages happen?

Fiber outages can happen due to various unforeseen reasons, including:

  • Road Digging or Construction: Fiber cables can be accidentally cut during excavation or roadwork projects.
  • Vehicle Accidents: Cars or trucks may crash into utility poles carrying fiber cables, causing damage.
  • Tree Trimming or Falling Trees: Trimming activities or storms causing trees to fall can damage overhead cables.
  • Natural Disasters: Earthquakes, floods, or landslides can disrupt or damage fiber infrastructure.
  • Heavy Equipment Operations: Cranes, drills, or other machinery can accidentally sever underground or overhead cables.
  • Rodent Damage: Underground fiber cables are sometimes chewed by rodents.
  • Work: Maintenance on water, gas, or electricity lines may accidentally interfere with buried fiber cables.
  • Fire Damage: Fires near utility poles or cable facilities can damage fiber lines.
  • Unintentional Human Error: Workers in other industries may unknowingly disrupt fiber connections while performing unrelated tasks.
  • Scheduled Maintenance: Temporary outages may occur during system upgrades to improve your service.

PLDT is committed to minimizing these disruptions and restoring your service promptly.

Who can avail of Fiber Always On?

Fiber Always On is available to:

  • Totally new PLDT Home broadband subscribers applying Fiber Unli Plan 1299 or higher residing in areas with strong LTE signal.
  • Existing PLDT Fiber customers who:
    • have at least 12 months tenure in their current plan
    • have no outstanding balances
    • reside in areas with strong LTE signal

While your area may have strong LTE coverage, it's important to ensure that there is an adequate LTE signal strength inside your home for the Always On backup Wi-Fi to work effectively. If the signal is strong outdoors but weak indoors, the service may not provide optimal performance.

This service is being gradually rolled out to include new subscribers.

How much does Fiber Always On cost?

Fiber Always On is priced at P299 per month. The service includes a Wi-Fi six (6) modem that delivers unlimited Fiber and LTE connectivity, without the need to load or top up the LTE service. This ensures uninterrupted backup Wi-Fi, keeping you connected even during temporary Fiber service interruptions.

ITEM AMOUNT AND LOCK-IN
Fiber Always On Service Fee ₱149/month perpetual
Modem Installation and Activation Fee ₱150/month for 36 months only

Where can I apply for Fiber Always On?

You can apply via these sales channels:

  • Any PLDT Sales Agent
  • PLDT website
  • 171 Customer Care Hotline
  • 170 Express Upgrade Hotline
  • PLDT Sales and Service Centers (SSCs)
  • A PLDT agent may also call you to offer the service.

Can I use the unlimited LTE from Fiber Always On while my Fiber connection is active?

No, the LTE connection is only activated when your Fiber service is unavailable. The modem prioritizes Fiber, ensuring that only one connection—Fiber or LTE—is active at a time.

If your Fiber signal is temporarily lost, the modem will automatically switch to LTE. Once the Fiber connection is restored, the modem will seamlessly revert to Fiber. Additionally, if no Fiber signal is detected, the modem generates a repair ticket, notifying PLDT to check the concern and contact you for repair.

Can I use the unlimited LTE from Fiber Always On to a different device?

No, the LTE SIM is embedded in the Fiber Always On modem and cannot be removed or used in other devices. The modem is designed to operate with either the Fiber service or the LTE backup, but never both simultaneously.

Attempting to remove the SIM will trigger a repair ticket, alerting PLDT to a potential issue with the modem. To ensure uninterrupted connectivity, the LTE backup is exclusively configured for the Fiber Always On modem.

Will I be locked into a contract if I avail of Fiber Always On?

Yes, subscribing to Fiber Always On will extend your lock-in period by 36 months.

What is the speed of my backup Wi-Fi? Why LTE and not 5G?

The backup Wi-Fi speed depends on factors such as LTE signal strength and your home's layout. LTE is used instead of 5G because it is more widely compatible with devices, and the modem supports CAT6, which enables faster speeds.

Actual speeds may vary based on obstacles like thick walls or limited windows, which can impact signal quality. Our team will assist in placing the modem in the optimal location during installation to ensure the best possible performance.

I already have an existing modem, why do I need a new one for Fiber Always On?

Your current modem does not support the Fiber Always On service. The new 2-in-1 hybrid modem combines wired Fiber and wireless LTE capabilities in a single device. This new modem is specifically designed to support the seamless transition between Fiber and LTE, ensuring uninterrupted service when needed.

What is a Wi-Fi 6 modem? What is CAT 6?

Wi-Fi 6 is the latest wireless technology designed for faster, more reliable internet, especially in homes with multiple connected devices. It minimizes network congestion, supports higher speeds, and ensures smoother experiences for streaming, gaming, and work. This makes it perfect for handling the demands of modern households.

CAT 6, on the other hand, is a category of LTE technology supported by the Fiber Always On modem. It enhances LTE backup performance by enabling faster data speeds and greater reliability. CAT6 technology combines multiple LTE frequencies, providing more stable speeds during Fiber downtime. Together, Wi-Fi 6 and CAT 6 ensure that Fiber Always On delivers seamless, high-quality connectivity, even during outages.

Can I bring my new Fiber Always On modem to a different address?

The new modem is linked to your PLDT Home Fiber account and registered installation address. Moving the modem to a different location may violate the terms of use and could trigger a service repair ticket. To maintain uninterrupted service, the modem should remain at the registered address.

Will my Cignal service and landline work when Fiber Always On switches to LTE?

No, your Cignal TV Box and landline will not work when the LTE backup is active, as they are connected to the Fiber service which will be inactive and unrecognized during the outage. However, other devices connected to the Wi-Fi Mesh will continue to function normally, ensuring that your home remains connected via backup Wi-Fi.

How can I tell if my LTE signal in Fiber Always On is working? Where can I see it?

Fiber Always On modem has an LTE signal light indicator. This light turns green only when your Fiber connection is inactive, showing that the LTE backup is active. Additionally, the modem displays LTE1, LTE2, or LTE3 to indicate the strength of the LTE signal—the higher the number, the stronger the signal.

What are the charges if I don't return the Always On modem?

If the customer chooses not to return the device to PLDT within 30 days or if the device is no longer in working condition upon retrieval, the remaining unpaid costs of the device will be automatically charged.

*NOTE: the standard fees will apply to those terminating their contract with other devices such as modems, mesh, FamCam, etc.

I'm currently on Fiber Unli All 999. Can I avail of the Fiber Always On modem?

No. Only subscribers on Fiber Plan 1299 or higher are eligible. Plans 899 and 999, as well as Gigabit Fiber Plans, are not qualified for this offer.
