When most Filipinos were forced to start working from home at the start of the pandemic, my then-fiancé and I considered ourselves lucky since we had just secured the fastest and most reliable internet connection at home. We had also just finished renovating our bedroom with dedicated spaces for a mini home office. That meant we were more equipped than most for this new remote setup.
The ultimate workspace for productivity!
Fast forward two years later, my now-husband and I have embraced telecommuting. We’ve also significantly upgraded our workstations with gadgets and tools to make our work-from-home life easier, more comfortable, and productive. And we’re not alone — with the rise of remote jobs, many others have started heavily investing in their private office spaces, too.
One of the most valuable tools you’ll need for your home office is a table. These days, smart desks — also called sit-stand desks or electric, height-adjustable, and motorized tables controlled with the touch of a button or your voice — are all the rage. But there’s a new kind of workstation that puts the word “smart” to good use in smart desks. That’s because it comes with an “in-desk display” to really maximize productivity.
The Lumina Desk is a powered sit-stand desk with a programmable, 24-inch OLED screen nestled in its top, located between your monitor (or laptop) and keyboard. It allows you to connect all of your apps on the display, receive calls, see chat notifications, and more. Its main use is to give you a space for the apps and feeds you always want open and in view, but you may not necessarily want to buy an extra monitor for.
According to its website, the display has a maximum brightness of 1,200 nits and a 60Hz refresh rate, so you can expect smooth and seamless use. It also looks to be a solid build, as the tabletop is made with anti-glare reinforced glass.

Calling itself the “ultimate workspace for productivity,” the Lumina Desk also comes with various features that help corral all your gadgets in one place. It has two 20 x 20 wireless charging pads that can pump out 100W each. There are various compartments to store your wires, plus six hidden outlets with a built-in circuit breaker, and six USB-C ports to power and connect all the tools you need. And let’s not forget its sit-stand capability: the desk comes with an automatic timer that raises (up to 47 inches) and lowers your desk depending on your daily work schedule.
Already excited to get your hands on this new tech wonder? Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait until the second half of 2023 for it. While Lumina is already accepting unpaid reservations to gauge interest, the price of the desk has yet to be announced, although you can expect a retail price of at least $1,000 (around ₱56,000).
