It might be just me, but it feels like the FPS genre has plateaued quite a bit. Don’t get me wrong; I still play games like Apex Legends, CS:GO, and the occasional Darktide run. But it just doesn’t hook me like it used to. Does anyone feel the same?

Wait, you say three people developed this game?!

If so, this article is for you because I am happy to share that the simple concept and graphics of BattleBit Remastered have breathed a new sensation of energetic joy that taps into my young gamer.

Developed by three people, yes, you read that right, three people! SgtOkiDoki, Vilaskis, and TheLiquidHorse took it upon themselves to develop a game directed toward gamers whose hardware struggled to keep up with the graphically taxing modern games we all see today. At the core of its creation, it aims to mimic the joy people experienced in other triple-a titles such as Battlefield but to a more digestible medium, full of poly-structured players.

This game is for anyone and everyone.

Initial phase. Honestly, I was not on board when my Discord group started playing the game—it took me two whole weeks to finally buy and download the game. Why? It may be shallow, but it simply didn’t look cool. I was used to games with appealing graphics like Red Dead Redemption 2, Mafia, Assassins Creed, Monster Hunter, etc., so it felt like a downgrade.

But as soon as I started playing, I was wrong. Gladly wrong.

The game gave no BS. You can start playing as soon as you load the main menu. It featured 32, 64, 128, and massive 254-player lobbies. Imagine literally 254 gamers in a single map running around, shooting, and screaming–crazy!

We hopped into a match. It was in the middle of the match, so some location points were taken, and people were trying to secure the middle point. You are placed in the thick of things. Bullets were whizzing past me, grenades were popping around, and people were screaming for help.

That is another cool thing about it. The game allows proximity voice communication even during death or at least when you are down. This allowed enemy players to hear your last words if they managed to shoot you down. The same goes for them when you win your gunfight. This is grounds for funny moments because people are cracking jokes or roleplaying believable screams of anguish. And the spirit flowed through, meaning I also found myself shouting out for a medic to come and save me.

Pretty Good

Overall experience. Graphic-wise, this game is as simple as it can get—blocky characters in a fully destructible environment. If you are worried about FPS, this game runs like a dream on Ultra. I have 2060, and this game can stably run with 165 frames. Gunplay is snappy and satisfying, especially when you land a headshot with a sniper. You just need to patiently wait and zero in the accurate distance to get that satisfying shot.

Battlebit Remastered is a game you can mindlessly play and enjoy after a long tiring day. Something I found myself doing a lot recently, so I am incredibly grateful for the game. If replayability is your worry, their system rewards players with skins and more guns as they progress.
