Gamers are typically perceived to be quick-witted and reactive to dominate their opponents on the battlefield. I mean, the gaming landscape is full of intensity as it appeals to scenarios regular human beings don’t get to see; however, there are moments when players take a moment to savor and meticulously go through gaming moments. Today, we will list those moments that may relate to gamers, so stay tuned!

Normally perceived as quick and reflexive, sometimes we take our sweet time.

Maybe a splash of yellow will suit my character better? Wait, no, perhaps purple. Usually occurring at the start of every role-playing game, character customization is one of the instances that can keep the gamer from actually playing the game. Take recent titles such as Baldur’s Gate 3, Monster Hunter, The Sims, or Final Fantasy XIV. They have elaborate character customization and can provide countless minutes, maybe even hours, of pure customization entertainment.

Third-party modders also include additional packs that add even more character depth, allowing characters to look aesthetically pleasing. Do you see how this rabbit hole gets deeper and deeper?

Map completion. This is one of the bullets I can get behind, especially during my time with Genshin Impact. Hunting down the waypoints along with each area’s respective Anemoculus and Geoculus–I only played Genshin with those two areas at the time—which took me maybe five hours. There is no biggie, just five hours of walking, climbing, and flying around.

This, of course, isn’t limited to Genshin Impact but to all games with an open-world setting. Traveling is great, but when you need to deliver one animal hide, you aren’t going to hoof it all the way to the other side of the map. It's kind of ironic if you think about it. Gamers spend hours unlocking all areas to save time when executing story missions.

RP-ing. Some gamers like to jump straight into it, taking control of their character and enjoying the game. But some want to not only control their character but also sync up in both emotion and response. How else will you save your family if you don’t see its emotional significance to the protagonist?

Quest missions are quick if you really want to speed through it. However, gamers can take their time properly RP-ing their character. How? One example that comes to mind is a term called “RP walking.” This is when you intentionally walk from point A to point B because it feels like something about your character. Some games default to jogging speed for characters, and RP walking allows players to enjoy the environment more.

100% Game completion. Have you ever finished obtaining 100% of the skill tree in Skyrim? I don’t think I ever came close to that since I only focused on stealth. Finishing a game in its entirety plus all its achievements is another level of effort. This instance of game completion requires time and a driven mindset. It’s like memorizing the entire element table—not needed—but amazing regardless.
