It’s time to set aside our razors again, as it's No-Shave November! No-Shave November began as a cancer awareness campaign to support patients unable to grow mustaches due to chemotherapy treatments. It has since evolved to No Shave November, where those who celebrate it don’t shave their mustaches and beards for the entire month and donate the money they saved from grooming to cancer research organizations.
When the month is over, though, and you’re looking to use that razor again, maybe don’t completely shave it off? There’s a lot you can do with it now, and you can use these film and TV mustache and beard icons for inspiration. Check out our picks from HBO Go, Lionsgate Play, and Viu Premium, all best enjoyed with your PLDT Home broadband!
Leonidas
From 300

“This is Sparta!” Every man seems to have wanted to be Leonidas (Gerard Butler), the King of Sparta, at some point in their life. If you had no idea how a King is chosen for Sparta, you would have assumed it’s based on who grows the most immaculate-looking beard. Watch Leonidas and his perfect beard fight the Persian army by streaming 300 on HBO Go with PLDT Home.
Kim Shin Hyuk
From She Was Pretty

The normally clean-shaven Choi Siwon of Super Junior grew some facial hair for his role as Kim Shin Hyuk in She Was Pretty–much to the delight of his fans. The K-Pop idol’s new look became so swoon-worthy for K-Drama fans that some are having major second-lead syndrome because of it. Watch more of Siwon by streaming She Was Pretty on Viu Premium with PLDT Home.
John Wick

When you think of Keanu Reeves as John Wick, a few things that come to mind: the suit, the attitude, and the beard. John Wick’s beard is the only thing he hasn’t taken off. Of course, he’s taken off the suits before, and his cold and focused demeanor has been broken by his antagonists too… but the beard? The beard remains undefeated. Watch John Wick gun through the assassin’s underworld by checking out John Wick on Lionsgate Play with PLDT Home.
V
From V for Vendetta

Yes, we know it’s technically a mask, but you can still use the iconic Guy Fawkes mask from V for Vendetta as inspiration for your next look. The particular mustache is known as a Van Dyke mustache, and it was a popular choice in the 17th century in European countries. Maybe you can get it back in style? Remember, remember the fifth of November when you watch V for Vendetta on HBO Go with PLDT Home.
Roger Sterling
From Mad Men

Courtesy of Lionsgate Play
Roger Sterling (John Slattery) may have been clean-shaven for most of Mad Men’s run, but his unforgettable 70s mustache definitely stole the show just by being as magnificent and resplendent as it was. Maybe it was because we were so used to him not having it that it became as iconic as it did, and perhaps that can work with you, too? See the difference a mustache can make by streaming all the seasons of Mad Men on Lionsgate Play with PLDT Home.
