AB_Dual Threats American Music Awards 2022 Nominees Who've Dabbled in Films

The 2022 American Music Awards (AMAs) are almost upon us. Since the AMAs are decided by fan vote, it’s no surprise that its list of nominees for Artist of the Year are filled with industry juggernauts that have massive crossover appeal–so much so that three of the Artist of the Year nominees had roles in movies that came out this year! One of them has also been starring in Hollywood blockbusters since 2002. Read on to find out who these #DualThreats are!

Whether it’s singing or acting, these stars never fail to shine!

Don’t forget to support your favorite artists during the live ceremony and stream the 2022 AMAs exclusively on Lionsgate Play with PLDT Home on November 21!

Harry Styles

This Artist of the Year Nominee has been very busy this year. From releasing his wildly successful solo album Harry’s House back in May to getting leading roles in Don’t Worry Darling and My Policeman and even going around the world for his Love on Tour concert, there’s just no stopping this modern day music icon. You can stream Don’t Worry Darling or check out his debut acting role in Dunkirk on HBO Go with your PLDT Home broadband.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift isn’t just busy creating new music with her latest album, Midnights–she’s been hard at work reclaiming her discography by re-recording her previous albums. Red (Taylor’s Version), an upgrade to her 2012 album, is nominated for both Favorite Pop Album and Favorite Country Album in this year’s AMAs. All Too Well, the accompanying short film for one of her songs off that album, is also nominated for Favorite Music Video–and it’s one that Swift also wrote and directed. Swift has also had brief stints in acting, notably in Amsterdam (2022), Cats (2019), and The Giver (2014). Check out her acting chops by streaming The Giver on Lionsgate Play via PLDT Home.

Bad Bunny

Although it may seem like Bad Bunny’s only burst into the scene in the last few years, he’s been grinding in the music industry far longer than that. His album Un Verano Sin Ti has been nominated for both Favorite Pop Album and Favorite Latin Album. Bad Bunny also received a nom for Favorite Artist of the Year. Not to mention, he had his first starring role this year with Bullet Train, starring alongside A-listers Brad Pitt and Sandra Bullock. He also has another film role in the works where he’ll be the titular character El Muerto. So we could be seeing another film star on the rise, too.

Beyoncé

Nominated for Artist of the Year and Favorite Pop and Favorite R&B Album in the AMAs for Renaissance, Beyoncé has been a dual threat for two decades now. Since her starring role as Foxxy Cleopatra in Austin Powers in Goldmember way back in 2002, Queen Bey has had multiple films with other dual threats, too. She starred in Dreamgirls with Jennifer Hudson in 2006, Obsessed with Jennifer Lopez in 2009, and voiced Nala in the Lion King in 2019 with Childish Gambino himself, Donald Glover. If you want to see Beyonce tear up the big screen, Dreamgirls on HBO Go with your PLDT Home broadband.
