James Gunn, who co-chairs DC Studios, announced that the film will mark a “reset” for the DC Extended Universe films, paving the way into the new DC Universe. According to Gunn, some characters from the previous DCEU are set to return even in the new continuity.
The film borrows from the iconic Flashpoint comic book crossover event
From DC Official Website
Director Andy Muschietti revealed that The Flash loosely borrows elements from one of the hero’s most iconic comic book arcs—Flashpoint. Barry will travel to the past to save his mother, Nora, inadvertently causing a ripple effect in time and changing reality as he knew it.
It’s Andy Muschietti’s First Non-Horror Film
Prior to The Flash, Andy Muschietti has only directed three other films—all of them under the horror genre. He was most known for helming horror films such as It and It: Chapter Two, but it was his first feature film Mama that garnered him an award for “Directors To Watch” by the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

The Flash marks Sasha Calle’s feature film debut! It doesn’t mean she’s a newbie actress, though. Calle, who portrays Kara Zor-el/Supergirl, appeared in over 270 episodes of The Young and The Restless and even has a Daytime Emmy nomination under her belt.
It includes a Batman milestone for Ben Affleck
From IMDB
The Flash is Ben Affleck’s fourth feature film appearance as The Caped Crusader, the most out of any other Batman actor. Weirdly enough, he’s the only actor to portray Batman in films to not have his own standalone movie. He first appeared in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad before assembling the Justice League. He surpasses Christian Bale and Michael Keaton, who both have three films under their utility belts.
Michael Keaton has his own Batman record
Michael Keaton is officially the oldest live-action Batman thanks to his appearance in The Flash. Keaton reprises his role as the World’s Greatest Detective at the age of 71. He beats the former record holder, the legendary Kevin Conroy, who portrayed Bruce Wayne at the age of 64 in the Crisis of Infinite Earths crossover episode of Batwoman.
