As a K-drama fan, there’s always a sense of pride when prestigious award-giving bodies recognize your favorite Korean series, actors, and actresses. And how awesome would it be if you could be there in person and witness the awards night, right?
Well, Filipino K-Drama fans are in for an unforgettable experience because the 2023 Asia Artist Awards (AAA) is being held for the first time in the Philippines. Over 50 Asian superstars are expected to grace the event, from K-pop and P-pop idols to Korean and Filipino actors and actresses!
But what exactly is the AAA? Read on to learn everything there is to know about this awards ceremony!
What is the Asia Artist Awards?
The Asia Artist Awards is organized by Money Today, a business newspaper based in South Korea, as well as global media brands StarNews and MTN. It was first launched in 2016 to honor South Korean artists' outstanding achievements and international contributions to Asian television, film, music, and online content creation.
Since its inception, the AAA has only been held outside South Korea twice—in Vietnam in 2019 and Japan last year. This year, the awards ceremony will be held in the Philippines and aims to be the “grandest and most talked about season of Asia Artist Awards”—a tall order since it’s considered the Oscars and Grammys of Asia!
While the list of nominees has yet to be announced, the AAA typically hands out awards for both Film/Television and Music in the following categories:
- Daesang (Grand Prize)
