AI chatbots have been all the rage lately, and it’s not surprising to see why. These online tools have become the new hubs for finding useful information, as they can produce essays about virtually anything, write code under a specific programming language, and even craft song lyrics or poems.
No AI chatbot has made more initial waves than Microsoft’s ChatGPT, but Google is at its heels after finally releasing Bard. If you’re new to these two AI chatbots, we’ve made a quick introduction of what these two AI giants could do, and you can test their capabilities for yourself with a seamless and reliable WiFi connection at home.
Now that Bard has been officially released, how does it stack up against ChatGPT? Let’s compare and contrast these tools together.
First, a disclaimer:
As of this writing, Bard is only available in select countries, but can be accessed in the Philippines using a VPN. New users have to sign up to the waiting list before accessing Bard.

The current free version of ChatGPT is called GPT-3, and can only access data from the internet up to September 2021.

Bard, on the other hand, utilizes Google search to access information, and boasts being able to provide “most up-to-date information on a variety of topics.”

As a caveat, Bard itself gives a warning that it is currently an experiment and may not always get things right–its official website logo even has the word “experiment” on it. The AI bot also encourages users to give feedback in order to get better at responding.
