This initiative is covered by National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) memorandum
order No. 10 – 10 – 2017 dated last October 2017 which instructs
telecommunication operators to expand telephone number range from 7-digit to 8-digit
format.
NTC assigned a PTE (Public Telephone Entity) identified per telecommunication operator.
Number 8 is assigned to PLDT.
NTC assigned a PTE identified for telecommunication operators as an additional prefix in
expanding from 7-digits to 8-digits. See table for PTE identifier assignment.

Voice services of Greater Metro Manila subscribers will be affected. These are the direct
lines, trunklines, PLDT Landline Plus, Call All, FEX Lines, SIP Trunks, ISDN and Vanity
Numbers. Including virtual numbers like short-digit numbers, Toll Free (domestic,
international and universal), Premium numbers such as embassy hotline and 1900 service
hotline, #MyNumber.
In this memorandum, NTC assigned a PTE identifier per telecommunication operator. The
assigned telecommunication operator to PLDT is number 8.
As agreed amongst NTC and telecommunication providers, the migration schedule is set on
October 6, 2019 from 12:00 MN to 5:00 AM.
PLDT HOME customers will expect 5 hours (from 12:00 AMMN to 5AM) downtime (no dialtone)
during the cut-over.
This window will allow PLDT network to update to the 8-digit number format. Provincial
and international callers shall not be able to reach all Greater Metro Manila lines during the
activity
For a period of three (3) months after the migration from October 6, 2019 to January 6,
2020, customer who will still incorrectly dial the old 7digit number will hear a special
announcement, that the number has been changed to 8-digit already (toll-free). After the
special announcement is played, the call will be terminated. The customer needs to
re-dial using the new 8-digit number.
All Greater Metro Manila numbers with “02” area code and have 7-digit format will
have 8 + existing 7-digit number.
There are some vanity numbers that have 5-digit telephone numbers which will also be
changed. All vanity numbers and shortened numbers in Greater Metro Manila will be extended to
8-digits.
For important calls during the migration, customers are encouraged to make use of other
available means of communication.

Customer who will still dial the 7-digit number 3 months after the migration shall hear
this recording: The number you dialed is incorrect. Customer may call 171 to inquire
about the correct dialing procedure.
For complaints regarding the 8-digit number expansion, customers are advised to go
directly to NTC, since the 8-digit number expansion is mandated by NTC.

Customers with activated call forwarding feature should update the configuration format
using the new 8-digit landline number. Calls forwarded to the old 7-digit number shall

Starting October 6, 2019, customers should input the new 8-digit number on all payment
channels that require telephone number information. If the old 7-digit number is
inputted, an error shall be encountered and payment will not be accepted.
