We’re all probably guilty of rushing home from school to catch our favorite afternoon cartoons. We used to wake up on Saturday mornings to watch as many cartoons as we could before variety shows took over at noon.

These beloved cartoons are perfect for kids and kids at heart!

As kids, the characters of our childhood TV viewing have become our first heroes. We laughed with them, celebrated with them, and sometimes even cried with them. They stirred our imaginations and helped us realize that life doesn’t always go as planned, but you press on anyway. They remain alive in our minds even after the credits roll.

Whether you like them funny and quirky or action-packed and exhilarating, you can access your favorite childhood cartoons anytime on any gadget with your HBO Go Premium subscription billed on top of your PLDT Home Fiber Plus Plan! Check out our list of the best animated shows you can stream on the platform!

Looney Tunes

The episodic format of Looney Tunes always featured three different skits in every episode, each following the tropes that the featured character is famous for—from Bugs Bunny outwitting captors to Daffy Duck pranking enemies, Sylvester trying to capture Tweety Bird, Wile E. Coyote attempting to capture Road Runner, and more. While some characters didn’t age well (such as Pepé Le Pew’s quest for “love” and Speedy Gonzales’ stereotypical portrayal of Mexicans), Looney Tunes is still revered for the lessons each character teaches its young audience.

Dexter’s Laboratory

Back in the ’90s, many children were inspired to venture into science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and build their own laboratory fortress, thanks to Dexter’s Laboratory. Everyone’s favorite boy genius could build robots, fight giant monsters, age himself, travel to the past, and more! It’s too bad his sister Dee Dee always comes along to ruin everything! As adults, we can’t help but wonder how Dexter snuck all of the equipment into his laboratory and where he gets the power required to run it. It’s a surprise the government hasn’t paid them a visit, considering how much power is required to run a huge and sophisticated facility in the suburbs!

Tom & Jerry

The game of cat and mouse has never been as fun as it was on Tom & Jerry. When a loyal house cat launches a doomed attempt to capture the witty mouse terrorizing the house’s cheese, the result is an explosive laugh fest that transcends generations. Sometimes, they even work together to beat a common nuisance. First aired in the 1940s, TV’s most popular frenemies have starred in as many as 161 short skits, 5 TV spin-offs, 1 theatrically released movie, and 13 direct-to-video films. Despite facing backlash in recent years due to blatant display and romanticism of violence, the show has become one of the most enduring brands of all time and one of the most licensed in television history.

The Powerpuff Girls

What happens when Superman meets Charlie’s Angels? The Powerpuff Girls are three super-powered kindergarten girls born out of a science accident. Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup possess innate Kryptonian-level superpowers, including super strength, flight, and laser eyes to fight evil in their hometown of Townsville. Just as Superman’s moral compass is guided by his adoptive parents and love for Lois Lane, these super girls are guided by their father figure, Professor Utonium, who happens to be a dead ringer of another Hanna Barbera creation Samurai Jack.

Ben 10 Classic

The original Ben 10, with the eponymous 10 transformations, became an instant hit with kids who wished to have superpowers themselves. The Omnitrix grants young Ben Tennyson near omnipotence with 10 different alien transformations and unique superpowers. Just as Spiderman—one of the world’s most famous juvenile superheroes—is relatable to teenagers, Ben 10’s appeal comes from the fact he is a 10-year-old boy who relies on his father figure Grandpa Max for guidance.

Justice League

Superheroes have come a long way on the big screen in 2022; but in the early ’00s, kids were already grateful to have animated series featuring humanity’s greatest defenders. With seven of the most popular members of the league, including Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, The Flash, and Hawkgirl, the Justice League once saved the world from alien threats episode after episode. It even featured some of DC’s most popular villains, namely the Joker, Lex Luthor, Brainiac, and Darkseid, to name a few.
