On March 24, 2023, Pokémon fans around the world collectively wiped their tears and bid farewell to Ash Ketchum, who, after 25 years, finally said goodbye to the Pokémon anime. But while Ash’s chapter might have ended, the beloved franchise continues to thrive, especially in the gaming department. After launching the latest core series games Pokémon Scarlet and Violet late last year, the company announced a new mobile app in the works that promises pretty interesting gameplay: sleeping.

You read that right: Pokémon Sleep is an app that will let you interact with pokémon while you’re getting some shut-eye. It’s essentially a sleep tracker and depending on how you snooze (there are three sleep types), you’ll be able to attract different kinds of characters.

In the game, you’ll be staying on a small island with Snorlax (the game’s official mascot, known for his love for—you guessed it—sleeping!) and Professor Neroli, who is conducting research on Pokémon sleep. Every night when you go to bed, your sleep will be recorded, measured, and analyzed. It will then be categorized into three sleep types: dozing, snoozing, and slumbering.

Next comes the exciting part. Pokemon that slept the same way you did will gather around Snorlax! As you continue to get a good night’s rest, you might even discover rare in-game sleep styles. Each species of Pokemon has different sleep styles (Droopy-Eared Sleep for Pikachu and Goofy Sleep for Slowpoke, for example) and your job is to find them all! This game will definitely make you excited to snooze as you discover new characters and research the different sleep styles each day.
