2022 was an amazing year for films, but there was one movie that we can definitively say stood out among the rest—Everything, Everywhere, All At Once.

Lauded by media outlets as the most-awarded film of all time, Everything, Everywhere, All At Once, or EEAAO,
has been nominated and has won a major award from every critical award-giving body during this year’s awards season. It even had a dominating run at the Oscars, where it won seven out of the ten major categories it was nominated for, namely:
Best Film Editing for Paul Rogers; both Best Original Screenplay and Best Director for Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (also known as “The Daniels); Best Supporting Actress for Jamie Lee Curtis;
Best Supporting Actor for Ke Huy Quan; Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh; and, of course, Best Picture.
If you haven’t seen the film, we highly recommend you do so! We’ll avoid spoilers, but experiencing the movie without much knowledge will heighten your viewing experience. EEAAO is available to stream on HBO Go, powered by the fastest and most reliable home WiFi in the Philippines: PLDT Home!
The film has EVERYTHING
Whether you’re into sci-fi, comedy, action, drama, with a bit of suspense thrown in, or if you’re into stories with deeply philosophical messages that can be nihilistic at times… EEAAO literally has all of that, or shall we
say Everything. But that isn’t enough to win a film all the awards like EEAAO did because, in the wrong hands, that sounds like a chaotic mess. Thankfully, EEAAO pulls all these genres and story beats
masterfully, thanks to the brilliant writing and direction that won The Daniels their Best Original Screenplay and Best Directors awards.
It takes you EVERYWHERE
It is a rollercoaster of emotions watching this film. It goes from family drama to quirky sci-fi, intense action, and absurd and laugh-out-loud comedy. What’s more, EEAAO does a loop-de-loop of those genres every other scene, and you wouldn’t
even notice it because you’re anchored by the characters emotionally. What you’re feeling, they’re feeling, and the fantastic performances by everyone in the cast that earned them their acting awards and nominations are truly well
deserved. Without those emotional anchors, any other movie would have confused you with how much, visually and storywise, was going on.
It successfully blended everything and everywhere, ALL AT ONCE

The climax of the movie is where all of it comes together, and this is where the editing that garnered Paul Rogers’ team accolades was so crucial. Everything was done with precision and intention, from jumping from one universe to another, to the
visual cuts to portray the transformations of characters. And when the dust clears, it stops all at once. Before reminding you that this film, at its core, is a story about a family struggling with understanding one another and generational trauma,
the answer to everything is just being kind.
Don’t miss out on this fantastic movie!
