By now you’ve probably made full use of your smart assistant at home–for your daily schedule, personal productivity, and even your kitchen–but there’s more to Siri, Google Assistant, and Alexa than just making your life easier. You can actually give them commands or ask them questions just for fun. And, no, it’s more than just telling them to give you a joke.
It goes without saying that your smart home won’t be complete without a fiber-fast home WiFi connection. That way, you can power your smart home devices more seamlessly. Once you’re all set up with your PLDT Home Fiber Plus plan and your smart assistant, here are some nifty things you can ask!
“Alexa, tell me a bedtime story.”
Your bedtime routine won’t just include dimmed lights and white noise–now, you can ask Alexa to read you a story right before you fall asleep. To choose from a collection of stories, you’ll need to open the Alexa app and look for the “Skills” tab. Then, select the preferred story categories that Alexa would read to you.
Amazon’s library includes fairy tales and even spooky stories, so this command comes in handy when you’re putting your kids to sleep–or you want to scare yourself to sleep.
“Hey Siri, can you lend me some money?”
Petsa de peligro is upon you and your groceries are running out. Maybe Siri can give you a loan right before payday. Just don’t expect much.
“Hey Google, why am I single?”
Maybe you’ve tried dating and things just didn’t work out or you’re feeling the pressure from your (nosy but well-meaning) titas. Either way, Google Assistant has a helpful answer if you’re wondering why you’re still “consciously uncoupled”:
“Alexa, do you want to go on a date?”
At your wit’s end? Perhaps asking Alexa out can help. But don’t feel too gutted when she friendzones you–it’s just not meant to be. Time to get swiping again.
“Hey Siri, Lumos.”
If you’re a Potterhead, you’re probably familiar with the Lumos spell–it illuminates the tip of the caster’s wand so they can see in the dark. “Lumos” switches on your iPhone’s flashlight. And if you want to switch it off, you can use a counterspell for that. “Hey Siri, Nox” turns it off!
“Hey Google, self-destruct.”
Google Home has a built-in self-destruct protocol for dire emergencies. This especially comes in handy if you’re a secret agent and need to look for a new hideout. Here’s how it works:
“Alexa, what do you think of Google?” (and vice versa)
You can also ask your smart assistant what they think of other smart assistants. In fact, we’ve tried it out for ourselves!
