MANILA, November 10, 2014 – Members of the National Poomsae Team are back in the Philippines to celebrate their victory in the 9th World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship recently staged in Aguascalientes, Mexico. The Philippine squad was able to place fifth overall among the 46 countries that competed in the world’s most prestigious taekwondo competition, after garnering three gold medals, two silvers, and three bronzes. The golds were won under the following categories: Senior 2 Men’s Team, Team Freestyle, and Individual Male Freestyle. The two silvers were bagged under Pair Freestyle and Senior 2-Male Individual; while the three bronzes were under Junior Female Individual, Junior Female Freestyle Individual, and Men’s Team divisions. According to team coach Igor Mella: “This is the team’s best finish so far since we started joining the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships – even beating our 2013 milestone performance.” .
