Imagine it's the early 2000s. YouTube didn't exist yet. The fastest Internet connection was broadband, and most of those with Internet only used dial-up connections. So if you wanted to watch your favorite anime, you had to rush home from school to catch them on TV. That's what 90s kids had to go through to watch these titles, and it's why we have such fond memories of them–they made us want to be heroes (or we had crushes on the characters); they were the topics of conversation with our classmates the next day; and best of all, they were really just great entertainment overall.
Thankfully, the days of slamming through ads and school just to watch our favorite anime titles are in the past, and these shows are now readily available on your favorite streaming platforms. Here are four of our favorite 90s anime you can watch on

Slam Dunk

“Do you like basketball?” That’s the question that started it all for Slam Dunk. Haruko Akagi asked Hanamichi Sakuragi if he liked basketball, so he could try out for the varsity basketball team. Of course, you could
be like Sakuragi and not actually like basketball–but by the end of watching this series, your love for it would be cemented just through sheer osmosis. Every character showed their passion for the game throughout the series in many different
ways. No fancy tricks. No Emperor Eyes. Just a pure expression of love and understanding for the game. Feel the love and stream Slam Dunk on Viu.
Hunter x Hunter

If you were bummed that you weren’t able to finish Hunter x Hunter (the ‘x’ is apparently supposed to be silent!) and never got to find out what happened with Gon and Killua in the Greed Island arc, then you’re in luck.
You can relive Gon’s journey through the hunter exam and find out what happened in his quest to meet his father. Stream Hunter x Hunter on Viu!
Rurouni Kenshin

More popularly known as Samurai X, Rurouni Kenshin holds a special spot for Filipino 90s kids. Himura Kenshin and his ragtag team of friends go through different adventures and fight baddies that threaten to destroy the peace of Kyoto
and Edo. If you haven’t seen the epic tale of Kenshin and his quest for redemption for his bloody past, check out Rurouni Kenshin on Viu.
Detective Conan

While Detective Conan isn’t exclusively a 90s anime show, there are a lot of new cases for Conan to solve for viewers who’ve only seen episodes that aired on local TV stations. Thanks to Detective Conan’s murder-mystery/standalone
episode format, you can watch any episode or watch episodes out of order and not miss a beat. Viu may only carry Season 13 onwards, but the new twists of the new cases are sure to still get you hooked! Stream the 600+ available episodes of Detective Conan on Viu!
