Most smart wearables are engineered to track your overall health metrics, which are primarily focused on heart rates, sleep quality, physical activity, and so on. But there are others that are actually tailored to help you keep tabs on your mental health–an equally important factor in our overall well-being!

Smarter ways to monitor your mental health

Check out these smart mental health devices below, best powered by your fiber-fast home WiFi connection.

Apple Watch

From Apple Official Website

When Apple announced updates to their 2023 offerings last June, part of their upgrades included mental health tracking for watchOS 10. If you’re an Apple Watch user, you’ll soon be able to log your current emotions and daily moods once the OS is rolled out. The data collected from there would be included in Apple’s Health app, giving you more insight into other lifestyle factors affecting your overall health and well-being such as sleep, daylight exposure, physical activities, and mindfulness minutes.

watchOS 10 is due to come out later this year, along with iOS 17 for iPhones and iPads.

Oura Ring

From Oura Official Website

One of the metrics that the Oura ring measures is your heart rate variability or HRV. A study that the company conducted in 2021 revealed that users who had higher HRV levels also had “higher self-reported anxiety.” The researchers also discovered that insomnia was a possible symptom of mental health disorders such as depression and anxiety. According to Isaac Moshe, PhD, the head researcher of the study, “Wearable devices may provide a valuable way to identify these early warning signs and help individuals get help before it gets worse.”

Apollo

From Apollo Official Website

The Apollo Wearable is not a health tracker, as the company puts it, but a device that helps improve your health and well-being. By simply wearing it on your wrist or ankle–or clipped to your clothes–it will “improve your body’s resilience to stress.” The device does so by sending out vibrations that can calm the nervous system, helping you feel safe and in control. Users have claimed that the tech has helped improve their sleep quality, focus, performance, and heart rate.

Muse S (Gen 2) Headband

From Muse Official Website

If you struggle with meditation, the Muse S (Gen 2) Headband gently reminds you to stay on track using audio cues. You can also wear it to bed, as the device can play music to help you relax and guide you towards restful sleep.

Muse utilizes electroencephalogram (EEG) technology, which can detect and measure brain activity. The device also has sensors that track heart rate, breathing, and a host of other metrics. Its smartphone app shows graphs that track your overall activity and even advanced insights on sleep quality. With continued use, users stated that the device gave them improved focus and mental clarity, enabling them to handle stress better.
